Preview Report:

Worsborough Bridge Athletic VS North Ferriby

A rejuvenated North Ferriby FC head to South Yorkshire to take on Worsbrough Bridge at the weekend. Chris Bolder’s men will be full of confidence, after their 1-0 win over Dronfield last weekend. That result, coupled with Hallam’s defeat to Parkgate, leaves the Villagers just three points behind the league leaders.

A Danny East penalty was enough to secure the three points against Dronfield. The Villagers dominated most of the game but couldn’t convert their chances. The squad was refreshed before the game with four changes made from the previous starting eleven. One of those chances being new signing Oli Donald who joins the club from Northen Premier Division one side Cleethorpes Town. Bolder was first asked about the four changes he made before the victory over Dronfield, then, how he feels Oli Donald will contribute to his sides promotion push, “After a below par team performance against Parkgate we mixed it up a bit. This will allow us to keep some players chomping at the bit”. In terms of Oli Donald, “Oli allowed us to move players around abit and then maximise overall team performance”.

Luke Forgione’s Worsbrough will prove a tough test for Bolder and his side. Forgione will be hoping his side can bounce back after their 5-0 defeat at Selby last weekend. Worsbough have had issues stopping goals recently. They currently average 2.52 goals a game which places them 16th in the best defence rankings. Despite this, they still sit in 9th place and have aspirations of pushing towards the final play off spot. Worsbrough have already claimed the scalp of Ferriby’s promotion rivals Brigg, with a 3-2 home victory back in November. When the Villagers last met Worsbrough it was back in September. Bolder’s side were clinical and claimed a 6-1 victory. Five of those goals came in the first half. Chris Bolder is all to aware, however, that this game will be much different this time around. Bolder spoke about what he expects from Worsbrough, “They are a young energetic side who have had some indifferent results this season. When they are on it we’ve seen that they get positive results”.

Ferriby will have a healthy squad to choose from. Due to work commitments, Ben Leyland’s availability will be less likely as the weeks go on.
