Preview Report:

Ashington Fc VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby FC’s season comes to an end as they travel to Ashington on Saturday. The Villagers have had a good first season at step 4 of the non league pyramid, last Saturday’s victory over Sheffield FC cemented a top ten finish for Chris Bolder’s side. The Villagers hopes of ending the season with some silverware were quashed by Bridlington Town on Tuesday night. A stoppage time free kick securing a 2-1 win for the Seasiders. Bolder will be hoping his side can bounce back and finish the season on a high. Speaking after the game on Tuesday, Bolder said, “totally disappointed, you’re in a cup final and you’re there to win it. The pattern of the game went the way we thought it would do. It was similar to the Easter Monday game when we had most of the ball. We didn’t adjust positionally so when it broke down we were vulnerable to the counter attack. They’ve got a very good centre forward who caused us problems”.

Ashington have also had a good first campaign at this level. The North East side cannot move from 14th place. The Villagers will be well aware of the threat caused by their hosts. Back in November, Ashington defeated the Villagers 5-0 with a dominating second half performance. Ashington will be hoping to get back to winning ways having not won since the 30th March when they defeated Bridlington Town. Bolder spoke about Saturday’s game, “we were hoping after the performance we put in against Sheffield we’d follow that up on Tuesday evening and Saturday at Ashington. It’s not turned out like that and we’ll have to dust ourselves down and finish the season strong. We don’t want to go out with a whimper so we need to write the wrongs of Tuesday”.
