Match Report
Dunston VS
North Ferriby
The curtain raised on North Ferriby’s Northern Premier League East Division campaign following a narrow defeat against Dunston UTS.
The full time result aside, the Villagers should not be deterred following a positive, hard working performance at the UTS Stadium.
An upbeat Ferriby began the match well, getting the ball down well whilst playing some eye catching football. A smattering of half chances came the Villagers but they did not falter.
Dunston probed the Ferriby back line, yet the desire remained and a hard working Villagers denied their hosts at every turn, keeping the game all square.
Continuing on, the Villagers were very unfortunate not to take the lead late in the opening half after seeing Lewis Dennison goal side following a flick on, a solid strike was denied.
It was a new half, yet Ferriby’s desire never failed. Despite a quick start from the opposition, an impressive press from the Villagers deterred the hosts at every turn.
The hard work continued both defensively and in attack with further opportunity presenting themselves for the Villagers, as the match sailed past the hour mark.
Inevitably, Ferriby saw a questionable free kick awarded against them, ultimately seeing Dunston in for the games only goal.
Despite this, the Villagers never dropped their work rate and meticulously went about their business to find a way back in to the game, producing some fine football in the process.
With the final whistle sounding, Ferriby's endeavours were something to take note of after working their socks off against a strong contender.
