North Ferriby claimed the spoils in a sunny afternoon at the Versa Sportswear Stadium as they hosted Bishop Auckland in the Northern Premier League East Division.
Three well taken goals, that included a brace from midfielder, Josh Thacker proved decisive as the Villagers begin to build momentum.
Stalemate saw the opening fifteen go by with minimal chance on goal and it wasn’t until the seventeenth that James Williamson’s strike direct at Alfie Gordon opened the game up.
Ferriby’s defence were called in to action two minutes latewith a goal line clearance to prevent the visitors from opening the scoring. Minutes later and Ferriby were ahead after a fine delivery across the face of goal found Josh Thacker at the back post.
One became two in as many minutes following some nifty footwork from Myron gibbons, allowing him to get a shot away and tuck the ball home for a deserved two goal lead.
The Villagers remained in control and could well have seen themselves three goals ahead before the break. JamesWilliamson’s diving header was met by a fine stop from Alfie Gordon before Josh Thacker couldn’t quite force home Sam Aynsley’s cross.
It was a new half of football, and Ferriby’s ascendancy continued as Elliott Walker’s break through on goal forced yet another stop from the visiting keeper.
Bishop looked to half the deficit, yet their attempts fizzled out as we approached the hour. The other side of the hour proved a different story as Bishop grabbed the goal they had craved.
Once again, Ferriby proved their worth and weren’t to be phased by the bishop goal as another Villagers break, this time led by Josh Thacker, saw the midfielder secure his brace and Ferriby’s third of the afternoon.
From then, the villagers defensive prowess crept in to play as they meticulously kept the visitors at bay. Charlie Clements came closest at the opposing end after seeing his curling effort palmed away by Alfie Gordon
Ultimately, Ferriby proved to strong on the day and saw out the fixture for well earnt three points at the Versa Sportswear Stadium. We now look to Bridlington Town away in the FA Trophy
