North Ferriby VS Blyth Spartans

North Ferriby claimed a fourth straight point as they welcomed Blyth Spartans to the Versa Sportswear Stadium in the Northern Premier League East Division.

Despite securing an early advantage inside the opening minutes, Spartans nullified Ferriby’s opportunity for three points after seeing home an arguable spot kick midway through the second forty-five.

With the tie underway, the Villagers were soon in the ascendancy and ahead after Jack Walters long throw found it’s way to Elliott Walker eighteen yards out, who successfully found an avenue and strike the ball home.

A fine display of football continued from Luke Hogg along withWalters and Tillo who were all involved in the Villagers press for a second goal inside of the opening twenty minutes. Some brave goalkeeping then followed from Ben Bottomley to keep the visitors at bay.

Ferriby soon looked very comfortable as they went about the game and almost extended their lead inside the final fifteen after an audacious lob caught Callum Dobson off guard, dropping narrowly wide of the mark.

It was a new half of football and the opening minutes saw Ferriby searching for that second goal, this occasion, seeing Lewis Dennison in amongst the action.

A game altering moment then came to pass as Spartans were awarded an arguable spot kick with twenty minutes remaining. Having seen it converted, we were all square moving toward the final whistle.

Never deterred, Ferriby continued in a positive manner and felt hard done by after seeing Lewis Dennison brought to ground inside the eighteen-yard area, only to see officials having none of it and carding the forward.

Finals moments set up an interesting finish after Spartans were sent to ten following a heavy challenge on Elliott Walker. With Ferriby still driving for a second, they eventually saw time beat them as the tie ended all square.

Starting XI: Ben Bottomley, Jack Johnson (James Williamson 88’), Jack Walters, Louis Kirk (Myron Gibbons 79’), Niall Tilsley ©, Dom Roma, Sam Aynsley (Luis McCabe 57’), Luke Hogg (St Juste 79’), Lewis Dennison, Elliott Walker, Josh Thacker.
