North Ferriby VS
Lincoln United
North Ferriby claimed a second straight victory at the Versa Sportswear Stadium as they saw off Lincoln United by two goals to nil.
In an evening that saw King Billy Heath return to the touchline at the Versa Sportswear Stadium, clinical finishing from the Villagers claimed the victory.
Ferriby carried on from where they left of n their Boxing Day victory over local rivals, Bridlington Town; Josh Whiteley fired the Villagers into an early lead with a delightful strike.
Whiteley was in the action again, receiving n the channel from skipper Niall Tilsley, forcing a set piece midway in the half. Minutes late, it was defensive duties to hand to see away Lincoln’s opening chance.
Josh Whiteley and Mason Johnson amongst others continued to trouble Lincoln’s defence, the later of which came close six minutes from time after his curling effort took a deflection out of play.
A new half dawned, and Ferriby thought they thought they’d doubled their lead, seven minutes from the restart, but were denied a goal after an offside in the build up.
Ferriby continued to press as Jack Walters narrowly missed out at the back post from Elliott Walker’s set piece.
A second goal came midway through the half; after Walker’s fantastic effort to win back possession, a quick delivery into the centre tee’d up a tap in for centre forward, Lewis Dennison.
A controlled performance took hold from the hosts, as Walker dictated play; his twenty-two yard free kick, fifteen minutes from time almost bested Heath Richardson, dropping the wrong side of the woodwork.
Inside the final third, Lincoln produced their best opportunity yet, as they broke away; Harry Woods low strike on the edge of the eighteen-yard box was denied by a fine piece of goalkeeping from Ben Bottomley.
