North Ferriby VS Consett

North Ferriby Football Club continued promise saw them claim a solid point at the Versa Sportswear Stadium following a one-all league draw against Consett AFC.

Another gritty, proud performance endured at Grange Lane as a confident display, saw Josh Thacker’s first half goal overturned, for Lewis Dennison to crop up late on for shared points.

A positive start saw the Villagers find their stride, as a sound piece of pressure from Josh Thacker, saw Harry Moss’ attempted clearance blocked and find the back of the net for an eleventh minute lead.

Twice in almost as many minutes, almost saw the Villagers double their advantage; Lewis Dennison’s saved header preceded a defensive mishap to almost cost Consett AFC an own goal.

A brace of opportunities from Charlie Dunkerley midway through the half once again saw the Villagers come close, yet the tie remained a close score line.

A calmness then descended upon the Versa Sportswear Stadium, with both sides enjoying spells of possession. However, it would be the Villagers who would take a slender lead in to the break.

Despite a untroubled opening to the second forty-five, there was nothing really the Villagers could have done to prevent the away side’s equalising goal; Jordan Patterson’s twenty-five yard strike found the top left corner.

The response from the Villagers was almost instant; Tom McDonald brave drive on goal forced the visiting defence in to a tense scramble away.

Ferriby would see themselves on the wrong end of the score line, twenty minutes from time as Donny Holdsworth’s cut in from the left saw his strike find the far corner.

Once more Ferriby’s character was put to the test and they found their resolve. Lewis Dennison got the final touch on a goal mouth scramble, to fire the ball home five minutes from time.
