North Ferriby Football Club secured their eighteenth league draw of the 2025/26 Northern
Premier League East Division campaign following a one-one draw at the Versa Sportswear
Stadium against Grimsby Borough.
Despite being behind at the break, the Villagers rallied in the second forty-five, showing their
grit once more to claim their eighteenth draw of the camp
In a half that offered little attacking opportunities, the Villagers looked set to take an early
charge as Charlie Dunkerley charged the ball down well to find himself in ample space in the
final third, however, he was soon denied after being pulled for a questionable throw in.
Ferriby’s defence soon set the standard, shortly after. Both Sam Aynsley and Rio Molyneaux
charging down the Grimsby attack to shut down early advances.
The Villagers found themselves behind midway through the half after seeing the visitors
awarded an opportunity to score from the spot. Kieron Ceesay stepped up and slotted home
against his former Club.
From then, it was a very much settled half of football, the only real opportunity of sorts for
the Villagers came seven minutes from time. Josh Thacker’s corner ball beat everyone.
A new half dawned at the Versa Sportswear Stadium, and it was Ferriby who claimed the
early spoils. Some good play saw the ball kindly to Arun Jones twenty yards out whose strike
found the net.
Early change came for the Villagers as they began to build following the equalising goal and
the Villagers came agonisingly close to going ahead. Some fine play saw the ball fall kindly to
Jack Johnson who was only able to fire over the bar.
Once again, Ferriby’s defensive prowess was on full display twenty minutes from time. Josh
Veeney found a little space for the visitors, Ben Bottomley matched his strike to produce a
fine save.
The fine attacking football continued from the Villagers, however, a second goal was the only
thing lacking for the Villagers as they were to settle for a point in their penultimate home
fixture of the campaign.
