Emley AFC VS North Ferriby

North Ferriby Football Club produced a fine performance to claim the spoils following a two-nil away league victory against Emley AFC at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.

The Villagers arrived in West Yorkshire and perfected a strong performance against a decent Emley AFC side to claim their third victory and clean sheet in four league fixtures.

Opening the fixture, the hosts began strongly but Ferriby’s defence began as they meant to continue, as Ben Bottomleyproduced a fine piece of goal keeping in the twelfth minute to deny Emley from six yards.

Ferriby were forced in to an early change midway through the opening half as Charlie Dunkerley had to make way through injury. The forced change would not hamper  Ferriby’s resolve as Arun Jones saw an effort on goal claimed by Michael Roxburgh.

Ben Bottomley was once again called into action with fourteen minute to play, before Ferriby ascension began. Lewis Dennison forced a brave piece of goalkeeping from Michael Roxburgh before seeing Ben Hatton coming close before the break.

It was a new half of football and Ferriby’s tempo and undeniably strong performance began to gather momentum. A brace of corners for the Villagers inside the opening ten minutes saw them come close but Emley were to hold firm.

You could sense a goal was imminent, and the Villagers came agonisingly close as another set piece fell kindly to Jack Walters twenty yards out, his looping strike landed atop the roof of the net.

The Villagers positive pursuit continued and with twenty minutes of time remaining, they were rewarded. After working the ball very well, it fell kindly to Arun Jones, whose low strike beat Michael Roxburgh to nestle firmly inside the bottom corner.

The hosts offered a spell of pressure towards the end of the half but the Villager’s togetherness and desire shone through; Tom McDonald producing a fine piece of defensive work to see away the hosts advances.

The Villagers performance can to fruition with three minutes remaining; Rio Molyneaux spearheaded a Ferriby counter, his well taken strike saw Michael Roxburgh beaten but hit the woodwork, and fell to the feet of Sam Aynsley to tapped home to seal a fine performance and the three points.
