North Ferriby VS
Stocksbridge Park Steels
North Ferriby Football Club and Stocksbridge Park Steels shared the points in an action-packed afternoon at the Versa Sportswear Stadium.
Both sides had a fair share of opportunities in front of goal, but in the end the points were shared following an even encounter for 90 minutes.
The Villagers started strong by dominating possession and creating a few half-chances for number 9, Jake Day.
Despite this, the scoring was opened on the 28th minute after a looming cross William Sutton was met by the head of striker Josiah Dyer, before ending up in the back of the net.
North Ferriby breathed a huge sigh of relief after a Stocksbridge attempt from outside the box rattled the woodwork, just moments after their goal.
A clever set-piece play from a corner saw Olly Green put a dangerous cross into the box, before taking an aimed deflection from the head of Josh Thacker, levelling the scores right on the brink of half-time.
Following the restart, it was a cagey affair as both sides failed to find their flow in the game since heading in for their break.
A dangerous corner from Stocksbridge’s Alexander O’Connor was not dealt with at the near post, resulting in the visitors taking the lead for the second time in this game.
Mason Johnson came on from the bench and didn’t take long to make an impact, as he found the back of the net following a low driven cross from the right side of the field.
The Villagers biggest chance to take all three points came via a thunderous strike from right-back Charlie Carlisle. The crowd were certain it had ended up in the back of the net, but it eventually thumped back into play after connecting with the woodwork.
