North Ferriby VS Silsden AFC

North Ferriby Football Club claimed their third league win of the season over fellow division rivals Silsden AFC, on a warm Saturday afternoon at the Versa Sportswear Stadium.

The Villagers started as they intended to go on, by dominating the majority of possession and producing some good football in the opposition’s third.

A few early half-chances for #9 Jake Day caused some concerns for the Silsden AFC goalkeeper, but ultimately the scoreline remained even.

The deadlock was finally broken when the visitors #2 Jorge Sikora headed home a delicate cross following a well delivered set-piece.

Despite opening the scoring, the pressure applied to Silsden AFC’s backline continued to grow, a few impressive stops from their goalkeeper kept the clean sheet intact.

The Villagers eventually opened their account for the afternoon courtesy of a well-placed left foot strike from #2 Charlie Carlisle.

The halftime whistle blew, and despite the scoreline, North Ferriby headed into the sheds as the team dominating most of the possession and territory.

Following the commencement of the second half, the Villagers showed no signs of slowing down as they created a handful of half-chances that caused the Silsden goalkeeper some concerns.

The Villagers inevitably took the lead courtesy of a 54thminute tap home from forward Jake Day, following an error from Silsden’s #1.

Some safe hands from Jonathan Dash, a goal-line clearance from Jack Walters, and brave defending from eventual man of the match Kane Richardson meant that North Ferriby would hold on to claim all three points on a sunny afternoon at the Versa Sportswear Stadium.
